Camping is a great way to take a vacation, but it can be so much more than that. Camping can be a way to meet people, a stepping stone into spending more time outdoors or a way to reconnect with family and friends.
Here are a few goals to help you make to most of your camping life.
GOAL #1: MEET NEW PEOPLE
Whether you camp in a tent, an RV or a cottage, the possibilities to meet new friends are endless. Plus, the people camping at Massey’s Landing or your favorite campground will have similar interests. All it takes is a friendly, “Hello!”
Our events and theme weekends are a great way to meet fellow campers! Strike up a conversation at a crab feast or pot luck and before you know it you'll kayaking on Rehoboth Bay with new friends and syncing up for future trips to Massey's Landing.
RESOLUTION #2: AIM FOR 10,000 STEPS DAILY
It’s easy to stay seated all day long without intending to while camping or dig into a bag of chips on the ride to the campsite. And, while we are all for unwinding and recharging, we want to make sure our favorite campers are staying fit for tons of adventuring throughout the year.
10,000 steps is a great way of staying accountable and making sure you're moving, whether it’s a walk around the campground or a bike ride into town.
RESOLUTION #3: ADVENTURE EVERY SEASON
As far as seasons go, summer definitely steals the show when it comes to vacationing. It’s warm, the days are longer, and the kids are out of school, but there is definitely something to be said about fall, spring, and winter camping.
The “off-seaons” are a great time to get affordable campsites for a long weekend, midweek or extended stay vacation. Plus, there are still a lot of fun activities to enjoy! Enjoy crowd-free beaches in the fall, watch the flowers bloom in spring or get cozy in the winter.
RESOLUTION #4: LEARN SOMETHING NEW
It's never a bad time to learn something new. Whether it be trying a tasty new recipe or trying paddleboarding for the first time, pick up a new skill this camping season.
RESOLUTION #5: INTRODUCE SOMEONE TO CAMPING
We all have a friend, coworker or family member who has yet to experience the joy of camping. Take this year to introduce them to the outdoors.
